A new special series kicking off to supplement the season!
The regularWednesday Night Liveof poetry, dance, documentaries, play readings and concerts will encompass four different special evenings: Actors’ Gang Axis Mundi (first Wednesday of the month), Get Lit Poets (second Wednesday of the month), Dance Wednesdays (third Wednesday of the month) and Pulitzer Prize Reading Series (fourth Wednesday of the month).
We are very eager to launch this new series that has come together in a very organic way. Three of the four special events have been developed throughout the past two years, without the intention of creating an actual series. Dance Wednesdays, the fourth and the new special evening, is an opportunity for us to open our space to innovative young dance companies in the Los Angeles area, as well as diversify the art performances we are presenting.
“The Axis Mundi evenings have been very well received and have allowed us to host prominent voices of our time to screen documentaries, conduct open forums, talkbacks and perform concerts. Some of our guests throughout the run of this series have included Bill Moyers, Sister Helen Prejean, and Jackson Browne. Poetry has also been a constant presence in our space as Get Lit continues its 8 year residence with us, as well as the Pulitzer Prize winning play reading series, which celebrates great American plays in staged readings. All that said, I’m equally excited about each one of these events!”
