Engaging Young Minds through Theatre Arts Education
Our Education Department is dedicated to introducing the joy and transformative power of theatre to the diverse youth of Los Angeles and beyond. Our commitment is to provide programs that are vital to unique populations, which empower children and teens to discover, develop and share their individual creative voices. We utilize “The Style”, our signature acting technique, based in the physical and improvisational form of Commedia dell’Arte, in all of our youth programs.
Free Arts Education Programs:
Free After School Programs
For 30 weeks each year, elementary and middle school students of Culver City attend free after school acting workshops in The Actors Gang theatre. Under the guidance and direction of professional actors in the company, each session culminates into an original theatre performance open to family, friends, and the community. Current schools include: Lindwood Howe, El Rincon, El Marino, La Ballona, Farragut, and Culver City Middle School
Free In-School Programs
For at least 40 weeks each year, The Actors’ Gang provides theatre integration into middle and high school social studies, language arts, and foreign language classes. Teaching Artists work alongside classroom teachers infusing theatre exercises to deepen the connection and understanding of the current curriculum. Students work collectively, bringing the culture and history of the subject matter alive.
